Crescent Lake Neighborhood

Crescent Lake Neighborhood encompasses 180-acres one mile north of downtown St. Petersburg.  It is bounded by 22nd Avenue North on the north, 4th Street North on the east, 12th Avenue North on the south, and 9th Street North (M.L.K. Jr. St.) on the west.  The central feature of our neighborhood is Crescent Lake Park, a 52.5-acre public park that has a 20.7-acre natural lake, Crescent Lake.

Our neighborhood is one of the traditional neighborhoods of St. Petersburg.  Traditional neighborhoods in St. Petersburg were platted between the incorporation of St. Petersburg (1903) and the mid-1920’s.  Crescent Lake Neighborhood was laid out by developers in the 1910’s.  Common features in traditional neighborhoods include:

  • Rectangular lots with widths typically ranging between 45 and 60 feet
  • Houses built toward the front of the lot
  • Front porches and entrances facing the street
  • Sidewalk connections leading to the public sidewalk and the street
  • Alleyways as primary means of access for utilities and off-street parking
  • Recognized architectural styles with consistent and applicable materials

If you are interested in seeing the homes that were already built in our neighborhood in 1923, the 1923 Sanborn Maps include detailed information about the houses that were in our neighborhood at that time.  You can access the 1923 Sanborn Map below.  The relevant sheets are Sheet 60 (southwest), Sheet 64 (northwest), Sheet 65 (northeast), and Sheet 61 (southeast).  These sheets cover our complete neighborhood.  You can select the different sheets with the Go To drop-down button in the link below:
